I’m pretty sure you’ve thought of something like that at some point in your life.
It may come as a no surprise to you to know that most people feel insecure and self-conscious about their physical appearance, especially in today’s social media revolution, where everyone seems to be out partying and having a good time 24/7. It is a fact that social media sites are making more people feel insecure about their looks.
According to statistics – 70% of adult women and 40% of adult men report feeling pressure from television, social media, and magazines to have a perfect body.
The thing is – feelings of insecurity and self-consciousness about your physical appearance sometimes leads to feelings of ”depression” and ”loneliness”, especially for sensitive people.
Loneliness is a way of self-protection. It’s a way our body uses to protect us from being hurt, emotionally damaged and humiliated. Our subconscious mind triggers a mechanism of self-defense that helps us avoid being hurt or humiliated because of issues related to our physical appearance.
When someone negatively comments on your looks, you will be more likely to want to avoid meeting that person again. Our subconscious mind is programmed through repetition of words, beliefs, and experiences. If someone always kept negatively commenting on how your ‘nose’ looks big. Then you’ll be more likely to start believing that what he says is the truth – even though it’s NOT. The belief that your nose looks big will be forever stored in your subconscious mind until that belief is challenged and proven wrong again.
Generally speaking, most people feel insecure about at least one aspect of their physical appearance. Here, the 35 most common insecurities you may have about your looks (and how to deal with them):
Your Nose (and how big you think it is)
This is probably the most common insecurity people have about their physical appearance.
Most people are concerned and unsatisfied with the size and shape of their nose, they think it looks too big, most probably not bigger as they imagine in it to be in their heads.
When you believe that your nose looks too BIG, whenever you will look in the mirror; your subconscious mind will avoid ALL your other beautiful facial features and will focus solely on your probably imagined and exaggerated thoughts about your big nose. Therefore, you’ll see everything ugly.

Peta Prior is a face exercise coach and what she teaches in this video seems to be very interesting.
The method shown is similar to a facial yoga massage, by doing this exercise correctly; It may reduce the size of your nose and make it look less bumpy and more straight and hopefully beautiful.
But you should do it correctly as shown in the video, or you’ll risk having a misshaped and asymmetrical nose, which is far worse than having a large bumpy nose.
Your Body weight
It’s not just about being overweight, on the other side of the fence; many people out there suffer from skinniness too.
And one of the causes of skinniness is eating disorders mainly influenced by exposure to unrealistic pictures in television, magazines and social media of flawless-looking celebrities.
(I won’t talk much about overweight issues here, because sometimes it’s scientifically proven to be healthier)
According to reports, about 1 in every 20 Australians suffers from some form of an eating disorder.
And the most severe type of eating disorders is – Anorexia nervosa.
Anorexia is basically an obsession the patient have about their weight, they are usually extremely fearful of gaining weight and looking even slightly overweight seems like a nightmare to people who suffer from this mental disorder.
People who suffer from ‘Anorexia’ refuse to eat, and they are willing to starve themselves to death, they have an intense fear of gaining weight and their ultimate deep desire is to look thin. Although they have gone far worse than that, they never believe they look thin; when staring in the mirror, they ONLY see a fat person staring back at them.
Anorexia sufferers tend to have an undesirable image embedded in their subconscious mind and they firmly believe that they are overweight, even though they’re too skinny. Therefore whenever they look in the mirror they always see the undesirable ‘body image’ stored in their subconscious mind and belief system.
It’s a serious, life-threatening mental disease.
Recent research has found that Anorexia sufferers could be having an abnormal functioning in the brain connectivity preventing them from perceiving their true body image.
… which makes it difficult to understand and cure this mental illness, other than psychotherapy treatments – there isn’t much that can be done, but full recovery is possible.
On the other hand, for those who want to lose some weight – avoiding unhealthy foods and eating the right foods, going to the gym and experiencing with Intermittent fasting will get you to lose weight in no time.
*Intermittent fasting is a method/lifestyle used to decrease body fat, increase muscle mass, and live healthier – by just eating two meals a day, the first around 1pm and the second around 8pm. Then, fasting again for approximately 16 hours and doing the same thing the next day. Basically, this is an easier and effective method for those who don’t feel like working out.
Your hair is one of the very first things that people notice about you.
It may seem strange, but most people think their hairstyle is out of fashion and unattractive, or they wish they had a different hair color (blonde mostly).
When was the last time you liked the haircut your barber gave you?
Probably not often.
I used to feel the same way, even when I change the barber; same thing happens (bad haircuts).

For cutting my hair and trimming I only use one simple tool – hair cutting shears.

The beauty of it is that when you cut your own hair, you know what you want – the end result. Therefore, it’s easier to get the desired look that you want, than having to describe what you want to someone who may not understand you or probably won’t be as patient as you.
Overall, the decision to cut my own hair by myself was one of the best decisions I ever had.
