Have you ever looked in the mirror and wished you could be someone else? Someone with more…exceptional looks, perhaps? Maybe you just want to look a little different – a smaller nose, higher cheekbones, straighter teeth, or any other assortment of physical changes that could certainly make you more attractive.
I always thought that looks matter only in dating and relationships, But sadly I was wrong, looks matter in almost every aspect of life, including careers and social life. Good looking people just seem to have it easier in life.
Let’s take an example:
A recent study by researchers at the university of Florida, the university of North Carolina and the university of Pittsburgh found tall people earned more money throughout their careers than shorter workers. It is important to note however, that there are short people out there who are successful in life, But what they lack in height, they make up for it in other aspects such as facial attractiveness or social status.
Another study published in the journal of Happiness Studies found that good-looking people were happier with life after thinking about how attractive they are. To put it another way, if you ever saw someone smiling happily to themselves in front of the mirror, then probably they got reminded of how much attractive they were.
Additionally, a recent research found that good-looking candidates get more votes, especially from frequent TV viewers who do not get political news from other sources are the voters most likely to be influenced by a candidate’s looks.
Furthermore, people shamefully tend to associate positive traits with good-looking people.
According to Dr. Gordon Patzer, researcher in physical attractiveness, human beings are hard-wired to respond more favorably to attractive people, Good-looking people are generally considered to be more intelligent, friendly and honest than their less attractive counterparts.
There is no doubt that good-looking people have better and easier lives, various scientific studies have reported the obvious, that attractive people indeed receive special treatment whenever they go and whoever they meet, no one can deny that… unfair advantage.
why are people so shallow and care too much about physical looks?
Well… it’s probably because looks are a good predictive sign for the healthiness of your genes specifically when it comes to mating and reproduction. But what are the physical signs of healthy genes?
The following are signs of fertility for women that are affected by Estrogen levels (female growth hormone):
- 0.7 Hip to waist ratio
- Symmetrical face
- High cheekbones
- Large breasts
- Large eyes
- Full lips
- Clear skin
- Long hair
As for men, signs of masculinity that are affected by Testosterone levels (male growth hormone) include:
- Broad shoulders
- Symmetrical face
- Chiseled jaw
- Heavy eyebrows
Moreover, other studies have found that people tend to perceive attractive people as more happier, outgoing, successful, trustworthy and have more positive traits. However, I do believe that the reason behind this act of discrimination, is the inconsiderate Mainstream media that focuses on good-looking people in all of its broadcasting.
As a consequence, global standards of beauty are starting to form, sooner most people around the world will have to agree that Jessica Alba is doubtlessly flawless.
As a result, this has created countless problems for less fortunate people who weren’t blessed with impressive looks, thus, they find themselves having to work harder to proceed in life. Some can’t stand the discrimination and unfairness of this fixed order and find no solution other than plastic surgery, but if they couldn’t afford to go under the knife, like most people can’t, they simply give up and choose to end their life. Because in most cases suicide seems to be the perfect solution for all the unsolved problems that faces us in life.
Today most people are insecure about their looks, they can’t tolerate the feeling of being less attractive than their friends and colleagues, so what most people choose to do when they lose hope is trying to ignore the issue related to their physical attractiveness entirely, but that won’t solve the problem. From a psychological point of view, ignoring your problems will only make things worse, because although your conscious mind might forget about the problem, the subconscious mind never forgets the unsolved issue.
Therefore, us average looking fellas will have to accept the fact, that indeed good-looking people have an advantage over us in most areas of life. Luckily your best solution is to either ignore this all together and live in peace or try to find a way to fool the system in order to make yourself more attractive.
